Our client had a requirement to upgrade the lighting to LED to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs.
In addition to the main lighting the client wanted to use this process to ensure the new LED Emergency Lighting design met BS5266.
Due to the client requirements it became clear the best solution was to use a number of luminaire manufacturers and the client decided they wanted to work with a partner that would work with multiple manufacturers and provide a full turnkey solution.
All works were to be completed overnight and full certification was required to ensure full compliance following practical completion
Sample luminaires were provided initially to establish the type of luminaires the client required both in energy performance and aesthetics.
Lighting designs were undertaken, and 4 trial sites were completed with before and after LUX reading readings and incoming power supplies were clamped to measure energy consumption before and after the LED refit.
The client developed a program of circa 1,200 stores with an accelerated fit out timetable to allow them to reap the rewards of the energy savings within the financial year.
Working with the main contractor RKB set up several teams that could complete a site in one night.
RKB organised delivery of materials to multiple sites and removing all waste at the end of each shift so the store could open without any disruption.

Significant energy savings were achieved in excess of 65% through this project in line with expectation. All stores were left fully lit with minimal downstream maintenance costs, and all stores had a clean bill of health regarding Emergency Lighting compliance.
